Bjorn's 4th Birthday!!

My pictures are a little out of order, but that is ok.  Bjorn turned 4 on Monday.  He has been anticipating this birthday for the last month.  Every day he would mention something about his birthday.  A few weeks ago, we let him pick out the cake and all the fun decorations to go on top.  Every day he wanted to see them and carry them around the house.  This is the first year that he has really understood the whole birthday thing, so it has been really fun.  The very first thing he wanted to see when he woke up was his birthday cake.  Luckily, I had made it and decorated it the night before.  I am not a cake decorator, so it is not a masterpiece, but Bjorn loved it!  It had all the fun things on it that he had picked out.  He opened all his presents and was fully stocked up on sugar before he went to preschool.  At school, he got to be the special helper  and they gave him a balloon and M&M's.  Later that day we invited his cousin Ashlyn to go bowling with us.  It was so much fun.  Bjorn loved it and he even beat Jason!  We came home and had cake and ice cream with the Allen's and called it a day.  Bjorn had the best day and got lots of fun presents.

That's what Birthday's should always be like...why do they seem to loose their excitement as we age. I can't believe he's already 4. What a cute boy and what fun parents. The cake looks great!!

Lose (I assume she meant lose) their excitement? No, no, my dear fellow. I still feel JUST as excited at 12:01 a.m. my birthday morning as I did when I was 4. The thing is, no one cares as much or caters to you like they did when you were a kid, making it seem a little let-downish. My question is why do we all seem to lose (or loose, if you like) our ability to humor the excitement of an adult on their birthday?! If it didn't make me look like a nut-job (at least more of one than everyone already knows I am), I would totally get balloons and sing and dance and play with my friends on their birthdays. Unfortunately, it seems like no one wants me to go all crazy about their birthdays. Instead, everyone pretends to be so grown up and "better" than all that fuss. Too bad. Think how fun it could be...

Anyway, happy birthday Bjorn! Sorry about the birthday tirade - I am feeling passionate today.
