What we've been up to

So I have been really bad about blogging the last few months! I am ready to turn over a new leaf and try to be better so I can have documentation of our where-a-bouts and what-a-bouts (I just made that up). I am the same with my written journal. I use to write every week, then I had a baby and it became every few weeks, then I had another baby and it has become every other month. I love having my written journal, but I also love having this blog because I do not scrapbook and never plan to, so this is a great way for me to document our memories! I would love if my parents had something like this, so I know our kids will love it when they get older. So, this blog will consist of some of the happenings from the last couple weeks!! I will start with the most recent. Last weekend we were able to go to the symphony with Ben and Kara. Jason grew up going to the symphony so he loves it and introduced me when we got married. We have been able to go to a few over the last several years. We love it. It's fun to get dressed up and go downtown and listen to talented musicians! We had a great time!
It has been so fun the last couple weeks getting ready for Christmas. The weekend after Thanksgiving, we put up all of our Christmas decorations and went and got our Christmas tree. We had debated wether to put one up or not with busy little Isaac. I just knew that he would be pulling everything off of it all day and getting pine needles everywhere. But it made us so sad to think of not having a tree, so we found a spot that we could put it and when he's awake we can blockade it so he can't touch it. Perfect! This was the first year that we bought one at one of those little places off the side of the road. We were on our way to Lowes which is where we usually go, but we found a little place that was a lot closer for us so we stopped there. It was so fun. They had a little fire going, so the little boys and I stood around that while Jason loaded the tree on our car. The tree is the most perfect tree we have ever had! I love it. We brought it home and had fun watching Elf and putting all the decorations on the tree. It is especially fun this year because Bjorn is older and understands so much more. He really gets into everything. While we were decorating the tree, he was singing Christmas songs and drinking his hot chocolate. He was in heaven! We also got a cool gingerbread house kit from Costco for 10 bucks! Bjorn had so much fun putting it together with us. He also had fun eating it over the next several days. All thats left now is a little house with a few decorations. He ate all the trees and bushes:) It was way too tempting for him! Another fun thing was our Ward Christmas Party last weekend. Jason and I are in charge, along with our awesome committee. We had a yummy breakfast and then we had Santa join us. We had a place for him to sit and all the kids were able to take a turn sitting on his lap. Last year, Bjorn was still a little nervous around Santa, but this year he wasn't shy at all. Isaac wasn't sure what to think, but he didn't cry.

Yeah, I think I have written in my journal three times this year. It's pretty sad. Thank goodness for blogs...although I don't do enough talking about my kids on my blog to warrant not writing in an actual journal. Ah well. I figure I survived without hardly any pictures of my childhood and little to no mention in my mom's journal. Kids these days (or is it moms these days?)!

We put up our fake tree (real trees are far too much hassle for me), but no ornaments this year. As long as I have lights I'm happy. I just didn't want to deal with Sylas pulling them off and shattering them everywhere. You know.

But enough about me...
looks like your Christmas is already shaping up to be wonderful and memory-filled. I love this time of year (oops, me again)!

Merry Christmas!

Sounds like you guys have had some fun! Joel and I went to the symphony on Friday night. Is that when you went? It'd be funny if we were there the same night. It was good wasn't it? We had a great time too. Afterward, I told Joel how I've always wanted to go ride a carriage, even though they're really for tourists. So, he said why don't we? And we did! It was so fun (freezing but fun)! That night out was sort of my early birthday date.

You did such a good job on your gingerbread house! I got one of those kits last year, and I could not get the house to stay together. The roof caved in like three times, so I gave up. Good job! It looks great!

Its so good to hear what you've been up too. Since it feels like we don't see or talk to each other enough. I love blogs too, but I have more fun looking at everyone else's that I don't do my own. Love the Tree it looks great and did I mention so do you! If we don't chat before... have a wonderful Christmas.

I am happy you got a tree. We got one from Lowes, and it has gone rotten and smells like a dead squirrel. I don't think it will make it to Christmas.

I've never been to a symphony! I don't know if Eric would get into that much, but you never know. I love your outfit you were wearing...very cute. Is that leggings? We did those gingerbread houses with Eric's family on Christmas Eve. We had a decorating contest and a time limit. Mine was not very good...yours is adorable. Kobe was on my team and he just sat there and ate the candy the whole time. Eric's roof caved in and Kortney's was amazing because she was on Jennie's team and Jennie is a total artist...totally unfair. Anyway, I'm glad you got a tree. I don't think Christmas feels the same without one. You found the perfect spot for it. I love you and can't wait to see you tonight!!!
